Does Diet Affects Metabolism
Metabolism
is the combination of life-sustaining chemical reactions in organisms. The
three main motives of metabolism are- the food will be converted to energy to
run cellular processes; the conversion of food or fuel to building blocks for
proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, and some carbohydrates. Metabolic reactions are also categorized
into two types such as catabolic which means the breaking down of compounds and anabolic which
means the building up of compounds like proteins, carbohydrates,
lipids, and nucleic acids. Usually, catabolism will release some energy, and
anabolism will consume some energy.
When it comes to dieting, researchers
had said that majority of people will regain some weight. While there are too many
reasons that’s why this weight may regain again, some trending claims that
dieting permanently weakens the metabolism. But it is true that continuing diet
will also slows your metabolism and it improves your metabolism in too many positive ways.
When we discuss about metabolism, we are typically referring
to your metabolic
rate. Every day, the more exercise we do, the more calories we burn. In
order to lose some weight through dieting, you need to consume some calories
than you are using. This will also force the body to use the energy which will
store like fat.
It is agreed that metabolic rate decreases because of
weight loss. The loss of weight is usually the decrease in our fat cells which
will shrink in size but they don’t actually disappear. The shrinking of fat
cells will send some signals to the
body’s fuel stores which are emptying and causes a dropping of the hormone like
leptin.
